'Winston Churchill' by Sir William Newenham Montague Orpen Box
To mark the fiftieth anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill's death, Halcyon Days is proud to have created this box in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery.
The portrait, which can be seen on the lid of the box, was painted in 1916 by Sir William Newenham Montague Orpen and offers us a glimpse into the depths of Churchill's character. Perhaps due to recent disaster at Gallipoli, Churchill's expression seems deeply troubled, making this portrait quite unique in capturing his profound, personal sense of humanity, as well as the pressures of his role as a statesman.
Appropriately, these boxes are examples of great British craftsmanship, being intricately handcrafted and hand-painted in our factory in England.
Limited edition of 100 pieces.
