Eos by Sir Edwin Landseer Ashtray
Eos was an original work of art by Sir Edwin Henry Landseer (1802 -1873) commissioned by Queen Victoria as a surprise Christmas gift for her husband Prince Albert. Eos had travelled with Prince Albert from Germany in 1840 when he married Victoria.
His affection for his canine companion prompted the subsequent commission which depicts Eos guarding some of her master's personal possessions.
